In today’s digital climate, possible clients want direct access to you right away. They don’t want to wait for an email back, and most people would much rather message or text instead of getting an actual phone call. Instant access to you could be the key to getting your next amazing client.
I recently started using Facebook Messenger on my website and it has made it so easy for possible clients to get in touch with me immediately. And it only took 5 minutes to set up!
So today, I want to share how to set up the Facebook Messenger chatbox on your website.
*Note this is for WordPress websites only, if you need assistance with another type of website, please feel free to comment and ask for help.
Step One - Log In
- Log in to Dashboard of your website in one browser tab
- Log in to Facebook (using the account you want to chat with) in a separate browser tab
Step Two - Install The Facebook Messenger Chat Plugin
- Download the plugin and upload it manually to your website
- Go to https://wordpress.org/plugins/facebook-messenger-customer-chat/ and download the plugin
- Go into Dashboard > Plugins in the back end of your WordPress website
- Click on Upload and select the zip file for the plugin
- Install and activate the plugin
Or:
- Add Plugin directly through Plugin area
- Go into Dashboard > Plugins in the back end of your WordPress website
- Click Add New
- In the search field, type ‘Facebook chat plugin’
- Click Search plugins
- Select the Facebook chat plugin
- Click Install Now
- Click Activate
Step 3 - Set Up the plugin
You should now see ‘Facebook Chat’ in your website dashboard. Click on it.
- Go to the Getting Started section and click Edit Chat Plugin.
This will take you to another screen that lets you set up your chat box within Facebook, make sure to choose the page/account that you wish to utilize. - Customise your chat plugin and complete your setup. You can add basic questions and answers and change the colors to match more with your branding. You can also allow guests (people not signed into Facebook Messenger) to contact you or not.
And That’s All Folks!
Now people can message you from your website, and your messages will be shown in your Facebook Page Inbox. It is so easy and so useful, there is really no reason not to use this! I hope that it helps you to connect even more with your ideal clients.
If you need any help setting this up, feel free to contact me in the comments.
