Long-term Business Planning is Overrated

In businesses like ours, the business is really about you. The business is a vehicle for your growth. Learning to facilitate transformation for others by first experiencing it yourself. Cultivating your practice of living consciously so that the skills you teach others become automatic to you – like breathing. Healing the past, living in the present.

Doing these things evolve you.

You can’t expect to be running the same business in 5 years’ time because, if you are doing your work, YOU WILL BE a different person in 5 years’ time (or even less). That new YOU will desire a different business.

Following My Law of Attraction

I’ve been in the coaching industry since 2006.

In my first 3 years, I tried on pretty much every niche imaginable from career coaching, to teambuilding, to customer service coaching, to public speaking training. I held one-on-one sessions, workshops, and mastermind groups.

But after a while, I started to notice a clear pattern of attraction. Coaches kept coming to me wanting to get online.

If you are not familiar with my history, in 2009, creating coaching products and getting coaches online was a burning passion for me. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It filled and fulfilled me.

So of course when the call came to train coaches how to create online products and to build an online system for coaching businesses, I jumped at the chance!

But that was over 8 years ago and boy oh boy, have I grown and changed in the past 8 years!

Starting Over at 45

Running a business supporting other coaches to get online has been immensely rewarding for me. I have learned so much about myself as a woman, a leader, a creator, and a team player. I am surrounded by amazing people everyday through my vast online network. This career is an experience I needed as a part of my soul’s growth and will always cherish.

However, I have been intuitively sensing for a while that it’s time for me to move on. I’m ready for new horizons.

2022 is marking a HUGE transition for me. I’m changing pretty much everything in my business.

Here are some of the things on the cards for the year:

  • Stepping away from the day-to-day running of My Coach Office (the Online system I created and launched in 2013 to help coaches run their business online)
  • Stop running group courses for coaches to get online. Instead I will be Consulting for established coaches who need personalised advice and support for their online projects.
  • Retraining as a Sex and Sexuality Coach for Women including Intuitive Energy Massage, Hypnosis, Passion Maps, and Past Life Regression therapy – SO EXCITING!!!

No Shame in Letting Go

If your heart is calling you to pivot in your coaching business, please follow. Face any shame, grief or remorse you might feel about the change. These are normal emotions when you’ve invested so much in something. By acknowledging your emotions, they become a real thing that can be felt and healed.

One of my besties, Melanie Spears, helped me facilitate a letting go conversation between my ego/Masuiline and my heart/Feminine so they could work together. It took less than 5 minutes but got my inner team into alignment with each other.

You need all parts of you to love and accept ALL of you – as you are right now.

Your desire to change is a sign of your growth and evolution as a coach.

Evolution Speeds Up

One thing I’ve noticed is that since I’ve been at coaching so long, the skills and new way of being have sunk deeply into my pores now. I do Love myself, I am mostly happy and joyful, and am certainly grateful to be alive. I’m surrounded by LOVE.

Living in this state more often is speeding up my timeline. I’m a different, more clear, version of myself on a monthly or at least quarterly basis.

That new ME has new, more empowered beliefs about what is possible. As a result, she has new ideas and attracts new people and opportunities into her life. So even though I have a rough plan for 2022. I am ready to Pivot if my heart calls me to because that is my true path.

I love this text from you, Benay. I have been a fan and follower of yours for so long. I find and feel the same joy in blogging after spending so much time and energy on something that was not bringing me to feel the passion I feel now. Thank you for being you!

Great Article, so happy and excited for you. Can’t wait to hear how all the changes are going for you and your team. Life goes in Seasons for sure. I was a Pastor for 30 + years, retired and Certified as Life Coach with Universal Coach Institute but never really launched a Coaching business but had a blog and encouraged and helped a lot of people over the years. Now I’m 72 in last Season of my life and a lot of changes happening in my life too. I am feeling the need to continue blogging and start writing content and online courses to get my knowledge out there to help people. I too am reinventing my focus / niche and purpose for this season of life. Exciting but for sure going to be a lot of work, but fun. I believe it is going to be a great year for a new beginning and focus. May God be with you and I both and guide us in our new paths.

    Respectfully,

    Larry Condon
