Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve lived a nomadic life. I’ve lived in the US, the UK, Indonesia, Thailand, France, Sweden, Spain, and Australia…so far…
Thank goodness I have an online business!
With all the moving around, you become really great at starting over; finding new places to live, foods to eat, new brands to buy, etc. etc. Another thing you get good at is meeting new people from all different backgrounds.
And every once in a while you make a real friend.
About 3 years ago I met an incredible woman here in Australia. Her name is Erin Lee. I knew straight away that she was something special!
Since then, Erin has got me into meditation and yoga. She’s taught me how to feel into my “Yes’s and No’s” by becoming aware of what feels expansive and what feels constrictive in my body. She’s also helped me become more aware of when I am judging myself and/or others so that I can consciously choose to judge or not judge. SO empowering!
One of my past mentors once told me, “Real friends hold you to a higher standard”. This really resonates with me, and Erin certainly hits the mark.
I have personally experienced gentle transformation through Erin’s unique approach to teaching Mindful Yoga. Erin’s been personally practicing yoga, mindfulness and meditation for just over 23 years and has been teaching yoga for a decade, so I thought I’d ask her some questions about Mindful Yoga to give you the opportunity to feel if it’s something you might like to add into your coaching tool kit.
Here’s what Erin has to say….
Who founded Mindful Yoga?
The history of yoga dates back to around 5,000 years ago in ancient India, and since then, the teachings of yoga have branched out into many different styles, including Mindful Yoga.
However, there is only ever one yoga, which points towards an outcome of UNION – of body, mind, spirit and soul through the process of self-realisation, connection to others and our outer environment, and connection to something greater.
The Mindful Yoga School was founded by Erin Lee earlier in 2020 to support more people to become a demonstration of presence, compassion and courage so that they can show others how to do the same.
What makes Mindful Yoga so amazingly transformational?
Mindful Yoga is about presence through both movement AND stillness, and into consciousness – of body, speech, mind and heart. In this way, every move we make and every breath we take on the yoga mat makes us practice operating in life in an intentional and very meaningful way. The way we practice then becomes the way that we participate in everyday life – life becomes a very rich experience.
What type of client is Mindful Yoga perfect for?
Every BODY is the real answer here, yet more specifically Mindful Yoga is wonderful for reinstating a sense of union, connection, freedom and genuine happiness into your life again. So it naturally attracts people experiencing the opposite – in a state of dis-ease, separation, or with a sense of disconnection in life.
Mindful Yoga isn’t something that you do once, and then it’s done and complete. It’s a way of living – it’s a commitment. Your practice is a tool to help you navigate life, so despite life’s ups and downs, you can return to the UNION of body, mind, spirit and soul.
How easy/hard has it been to create a business from Mindful Yoga?
What type of person should seriously consider becoming a Mindful Yoga Instructor?
Anyone who is looking to slow down, stress less, be present, live a more conscious and fulfilling life and actually BE here for it – while still doing all the other things we have to do in life – is a perfect candidate for Mindful Yoga.
This might be something that you need as a coach to help you return to your center or it might be something that calls you and you want to share it with your clients. Maybe you sense that #PureCoaching is helping your clients but you want to add a more embodied approach into your work.
Yoga is a way to bring holistic balance into life in all areas, and can be practiced alongside all other life interests.
Is there a Mindful Yoga certification?
Yes, you can become a certified Mindful Yoga teacher via a Level 1 Yoga Teacher Training program (200hr).
We offer this training over a six-month period so it’s totally doable alongside the rest of your life and it’s currently open to complete in full either virtually or via a mix of in-person/online training and at-home study/practice.
Many people complete the yoga teacher training program without the intention to become a practicing teacher, instead for their own personal development and spiritual practice.
How can people learn/study Mindful Yoga?
A great way to start deepening your experience of yoga is to find a teacher that you align with, who can guide you through the practice. It’s important to remember that yoga isn’t just about the physical practice – it’s about how we are in relationship with ourselves and others in life, coming to understand and manage the way we think and feel, and applying learned tools to make wise and insightful life choices. Look for a teacher who can offer guidance on more than just the physical practice of yoga.
