A New Dimension to Coaching and Healing
In our capacity as Coaches, Healers, Counsellors, Mentors, Consultants, etc., we use different modalities to create the most valuable experience for our clients.

In this column, I will introduce another highly effective way to add more value to the Coaching practice, for the benefit of both clients and practitioners – Psychological Astrology.
What is Psychological Astrology and How it Connects to Coaching
Astrology, in its various forms, has always been part of human history.
This ancient discipline is a precious gift from the Universe, a system of sacred knowledge and a foundational principle of our connection, as human beings, to Nature and the Cosmos.
Astrology is best understood as a symbolic language, a unique, complex matrix of energies holding the power to describe processes that occur on both physical and psychological levels.
There are many different astrological systems and traditions, with their own merits and significance.
Our focus is on Psychological Astrology, also known as AstroPsychology as a symbolic representation of psychological processes and an intersection between macrocosmic and microcosmic cycles.
Traditional Astrology is rather focused on events and prediction, whereas Psychological Astrology, which integrates traditional Astrology with Jungian Analytical Psychology is person-centered.
Psychological Astrology, sometimes referred to as Counselling Astrology interprets the solar system as a Paradigm for the Psyche and the Zodiac, as an Archetype of the Self.

Astrology in the 21st century
Astrology is becoming increasingly popular. More and more people, from all walks of life, are seeking professional advice and guidance from astrologers.
The excerpt below is from an article published in the New Yorker magazine:
‘ ….But what attracts most people to astrology today has more to do with psychology. Psychological astrology, influenced by Carl Jung, treated the birth chart—a diagram that shows the individual’s relation to the cosmos at birth—as the representation of the psyche and used it to talk about such things as purpose, potential, and self-actualization. It’s hard to understand the deep appeal of astrological practice without having or observing an individual chart reading, an experience whose closest analog is therapy.
But unlike therapy, where a client might spend months or even years uncovering the roots of a symptom, astrology promises to get to answers more quickly. Despite common misconceptions, an astrologer is not a fortune-teller. In a chart reading, she doesn’t predict the future; she describes the client to herself. ‘
Become Who You Truly Are
Your birth chart reveals how you are likely to process and internalize experience, driven by specific underlying beliefs, ideas, and motives.
From that perspective and as an integrated union of energies, the horoscope symbolizes our potential for self-actualization, or as the Swiss psychologist and psychiatrist and founder of analytical psychology, Carl Jung defines it, Individuation.
This psychological concept describes the process in which the individual becomes self-aware, resolves intrapsychic conflicts, embraces their uniqueness, and goes through inner development so that all parts and aspects of the psyche are integrated into a fully functioning, healthy, and well-balanced conscious whole.
Jung teaches that ‘all reality is psychic reality ’ which is why Psychological Astrology, through its focus on the individual, could be of inestimable value in the process of self-discovery and personal development and by extension, in the Coaching & Healing practice.
